Back at one of my favorite venues in the Los Angeles Arts District! Cassandra and Peter’s Intimate California wedding had us dual wielding the photo and film side of the day at the Ace Hotel and Millwick and you may recognize some of these spots from Meagan & Josh’s Wedding in DTLA a few years back. The Heist jammed classic rock music all night as everyone danced into the night and this party was one I won’t forget. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Costello, your Millwick wedding was an incredible one to capture both moving and still for. Grateful for the entire experience I’ve had working with you both! Huge thanks as well to Danielle at Floral Crush for the amazing design and to my good friends Nathan Parens and Khoa Truong for assisting with camera work on the day of.
I exist to elevate and empower creatives; to realize the potential they individually hold to craft sustainable businesses that provide a purposeful life and profitable living. It’s been an incredibly special week having the opportunity to share for a full day in a very intimate setting with a group of creatives from around the Northwest at my first public workshop.
After years of teaching exclusively in a private year long Mentorship setting, I finally chose to make the jump into the workshop world with the intention of shifting the perspective of wedding creatives. I find the starving artist mentality is a lie that too many have bought into and I hope these gatherings continue to inspire and influence people to shift their businesses to becoming something different across the globe.
I cannot say thank you enough to Larch Provisions for crafting a memorable food experience and here’s a glimpse of the day captured by the incredible, Maccoy Dean. For everyone who attended the Work Less Make More Portland workshop, thank you for sharing the space with me. It was a day I won’t forget.
“My mind was blown last night at Robert J Hill’s workshop. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to be 1000% myself, nor have I felt this much sense of deep purpose/appreciation in what I do. Robert, thank you for making me feel so whole before booking season!”
“I loved it! Great day, super fun group, I learned a TON and the atmosphere was really friendly, relaxed and open which I sincerely appreciated. Even though I’ve been in business for 8 years I came away with a ton of new knowledge and ideas for my business!”
“It was worth it. You dedicated an entire day to elevating and empowering us. The experience was well orchestrated from the venue to the food and everything in between. I love being a part of a creative community. Pricing blew me away the most and it’s something that I need to get better at.”

Autumn is officially upon us here in the Northwest and the trail for Jared & Scott’s Mount Hood Engagement Session had some intense colors. So stoked for these two and it was amazing getting to work with them as I had just met them a few weeks earlier at a wedding I was photographing in Portland. I believe engagement sessions should be an experience with no set time limit and climbing a mountain to watch the sunset at the top is always an unforgettable setting to photograph. See more of Jared & Scott’s session in the coming weeks on my Instagram and check out other couples session by clicking here! If you are a gay couple looking for a same-sex wedding photographer for your intimate wedding, elopement or engagement session near Portland or around Oregon, let’s connect!
